So you're wondering: what is Big Ocean Women anyway? Think of it as a club for women of faith who gather to become a greater influence in the world. We call our local units cottage because we want every group to be a cozy and safe environment for every woman that comes and chooses to connect with us.
If you are passionate about being a woman of faith and nurturing the next generation (a mother in heart) you have found good company with us. As Big Ocean Women, we stand by the same values. We have 12 tenets that drive all the work we do.
1. We believe in God and are women of faith.
2. We are each unique and innately worthy of respect.
3. We work in partnership with our global sisters to create generative solutions.
4. We live and promote a life culture and are stewards over our environment.
5. We are empowered by our feminine nature and biology.
6. We value the irreplaceable role of fathers.
7. We are free to choose and willingly accept responsibility for our choices.
8. We greatly value the contributing roles of families.
9. We seek after knowledge and wisdom.
10. We recognize and follow our internal compass to speak and act with integrity.
11. We believe in the model of powerful impact.
12. We foster a positive culture of abundance.
All the women who participate in Big Ocean Women are unpaid volunteers. You are welcomed to donate through our website, but that money will be spent in covering costs of operation (website, other tech tools and anything we need to pay to get BOW working) and charitable efforts carried out by our cottages around the world.

So if you are still reading this, I am assuming you want to know what we are bringing to you here in the Austin area. There are many great things that come out of these principles and every cottage approaches these values in different ways. But as we start out this Austin Texas Cottage, we have only one thing in mind: helping you grow your influence.
I want you to think of your influence as a living thing. Everyone has influence: the ability to cause other people to make decisions and do things they wouldn't do were you not asking, inviting or inspiring them to. We are all born with it: think of how much we do for our babies! As we get older our influence must grow as well and it is probably one of the few human abilities that does not have to decline with age. As with everything else, your influence will grow and gain direction only if you intentionally set time aside to think about it and make choices that will increase and refine it.
As a cottage, we believe our principles and the practice of communicating in an influential way will help you and me become more effective in inspiring, inviting and asking people to become and do better and make our families and communities a better place for everyone.
